Double Dream
NEW

"Double Dream" has been developed with the use of 2-hold yarn and tidy density for weft. This challenge overturned a conventional image of Italian fabric and has succeeded in obtaining "toughness and durability" .We wish you to wear this fabric without the shape being distorted, instead, retaining an imposing silhouette just like a newly-made garment for a long period of time.Miyuki and Barbera taught the "know-how" of manufacturing methods to each other and thus "Double Dream" was borne from this collaborative spirit.

This project was just like a verifying of our questions and answers to each other. Miyuki's business creed is "spending time and labor" to create attractive fabrics. Through discussions and exchange of opinions, we found that Barbera has also same philosophy that "wool fabric should be processed slowly and diligently". In other words, this fabric can be described as an Italian fabric which inhabits the Japanese spirit of manufacturing. Carlo Barbera's "Double Dream" will make its debut on the Japanese market in autumn winter 2017.

Interview Movie - English translation

Hello! Japanese friends! I am Corrado Barbera from Lanificio Carlo Barbera, Italy. I would like to introduce you to our new collection which has been archived with the collaboration of Miyuki Keori in this season. The new collection is named "Double Dream". We put this autumn winter 2017 collection into practice for the Japanese market. We focused our endeavors to create new fabric within it.

Do you know the reason why this fabric is called "Double"? The story is a little bit long, but let me explain all.

The characteristic of Italian fabric is "soft handle". In the most cases, this texture is obtained by using single yarn for the weft. This single yarn tends to be spun with soft twist. In other words the number of twists is low and this low twist yarn produces soft and smooth fabric.

However, at the same time, the durability is reduced. That is to say, your Italian clothes look beautiful only at the beginning and do not maintain the original shape after several dry cleanings.

To solve this problem, Carlo Barbera and Miyuki agreed to use 2ply yarn for weft.

With the use of 2-hold yarn for weft and by keeping a proper density for weaving the fabric will have long life span and produce perfect wearing at all times. This method makes clothes maintain the original tailored form as long as possible.

Of course, 2-hold yarn is more expensive than single yarn. However, due to these advantageous points mentioned above, Carlo Barbera and Miyuki decided to make fabric in this way. And thus the main reason why we call this collection "Double".

On the selvedge, we can find the Italian word "Doppio" which means "Double" in English. It is a proof of the use of 2-ply yarn as a weft.

Regarding to fabric designs and colours, it is obvious that all elements are based on Carlo Barbera's "classic Italian" taste. This collection offers you elegant suits with rich Italian artistic designs.

As for raw material, this quality is made from Australian extra fine wool. This fabric gives you fascinating handles as the yarns are kept for 2years at a special storage which is made by hollowing out bare rock. It maintains the conditions of 18℃ temperature and 80% humidity throughout the year. This "conditioning" makes yarns ideally adaptable to manufacture attractive fabric.

Dear friends, thank you for reading this interview. Please enjoy our new collection "Double Dream". Thank you so much!
