Miyuki "Airedale" is a masterpiece of cool summer wool.

The "Airedale" fabric representing this Spring & Summer appears with a unique handle combining two different touches. Fabric is woven with using high-twist yarn with a dry touch in the warp and for the weft a regular-twist yarn with a soft handle. Because of the weft yarn, this fabric maintains "lightness" and also achieves a dry touch and smooth "drape". It avoids having a heavy handle which fabric using only high-twisted yarn usually tends to have. As the word suggests, "Airedale" for 2020 becomes a cool & fresh fabric which brings us a lovely cool breeze from the valley.

The "Natural and Effortless feeling" that matches the mood of this season's outfit is expressed through a suggestion of vintage color and design. With Airedale, You can keep an elegant look even in hot summer.

Airedale plain collection is highly useful. Fabrics are available for multi-use. Furthermore, all fabrics have mild water resistance function.

* Mild water resistance function: it achieves temporary 5th grade (best grade) of water resistance test at the early stage, but this function gradually becomes weaker after every dry cleaning.

What's Miyuki Airedale

Located in West Yorkshire the "Airedale" valley is a place of scenic beauty and lovely cool breezes. The river in this valley stretches from the river’s origin at Aire Head Springs in the Yorkshire Dales, down past Skipton, on to Keighley,Bingley and Shipley then through to Leeds and Castleford,finally joining the river Ouse at Airmyn.

Perhaps, rather than the name of the valley, people are more familiar with "Airedale" as the name of a dog called "Airedale terrier" whose origin is in this area.

In 1984, Miyuki registered "Airedale" and has been using it as a trademark for fabric. In fact we have been making this "Airedale" fabric for our customers over a long period of 36 years. There has not been any limit on the quality or yarn but, on a case by case basis, "Airedale" fabric has changed its character. In the 2020 Spring & Summer collection "Airedale" evolves again and its original characteristics, such as freshness and coolness of a valley breeze are given new emphasis.
